Tutors on Film
Last week saw 15 yipiyap tutors and a number of our school staff and pupils taking time out to be caught on camera for three short films we are putting together.
Two of the films will outline the benefits of joining yipiyap for schools and potential recruits and, since we know our biggest advert is our brilliant tutors, we wanted to capture as much of them as possible – in action with pupils and talking about their experiences – and every single one was fantastic! We are so grateful to them and to staff and pupils at St Antony’s Catholic College in Urmston and Heyes Lane Primary School in Timperley for allowing us to film them and being so natural on screen.
As well as creating these promotional films, we wanted to use the opportunity to shoot the footage for our Social Media Awareness Campaign – #ShareWithCare – which we will be sending to schools in the New Year. The film tackles a subject we feel is a significant cause for concern among young people and will show our tutors talking about their experiences of misuse of Social Media and warning children of the dangers of careless posts and oversharing. Since they know they are role models to the children they support, tutors gave up their free time very willingly to be involved in this initiative which we hope will make children think much more carefully before posting information or pictures online. As well as our tutors, we were delighted to feature 14-year-olds Hannah and Holly who volunteered to give their perspective as young teens and who weren’t at all phased by talking about the pressures they face on camera.
Finally it was a pleasure to work with the video production team at Viva La Zoom who did an amazing job, putting everyone at their ease and making the whole experience very enjoyable. We’re really looking forward to seeing the results!
