What’s new in Yipiyap Aspire: Train to Tutor V1.1?

Version 1.1 of Yipiyap Aspire’s Train to Tutor course is now out, as of November 2024. All subscribers to the digital course have automatically been upgraded to the latest version of the course, which can be accessed via the Yipiyap website, free of charge.

So, what’s new?

List of changes

Improved signup process

The account creation process has been streamlined for your learners. Accounts are now validated instantly, without any delay for manual verification.

All new Teacher Portal

We’ve added a Teacher Portal to Yipiyap Aspire, where you can check on the progress of your learners through the course, any time you like.

Full-screen videos and subtitles

We’ve made some improvements to accessibility. Notably, videos can now be played full-screen, which is helpful on smaller devices or when playing a video for a class via an interactive whiteboard.

All videos now have subtitles as well, which makes them more accessible to a wide range of learners.

Responses saved at the end of every page

Forgot about that fire drill? No problem – your learners’ responses are now saved to their account at the end of every page, rather than only at the end of each module.

Phew – now learners can finish off the module in their own time if things overrun.

Course workbook available at any time

We’ve added a button to the Train to Tutor menu that gives learners access to the course workbook, whenever they need it.

This is how this feature was always intended to work, instead of the workbook only being delivered at the end of the course. A number of early modules refer learners to the workbook, so this will hopefully save any confusion in future!

What’s next for Yipiyap Aspire?

This update has targeted quality-of-life features that could cause frustration for learners. We’re planning another update for early 2025, which will focus on the course videos themselves.

We’re already aware of a number of outstanding issues:

• Some audio throughout the course is difficult to understand without subtitles.

• One line of speech in Module 3 is repeated twice.

• Some brand names in Module 3 are spelled incorrectly.
